How do you rank headphones? Each headphone’s measured frequency response is scored against the Harman target that most listeners prefer in blind tests, then ranked within over-ear or in-ear. Most measurements come from oratory1990, crinacle and other reviewers via AutoEQ. Where a model’s only data is hobbyist measurements on squig.link, we use the median of every measurer’s curve, calibrated so it lines up with AutoEQ’s scores. How do you rank amps and DACs? Each headphone amp, DAC and USB-C dongle is rated from Audio Science Review’s measurements: its SINAD (how far noise and distortion sit below the music), plus its rated output power for driving headphones and a small credit for features like balanced outputs and Bluetooth.
